We made it!

We made it! Last night we met at an airport hotel (since we were flying out so early today). We had some yummy carrot cake to celebrate Andy's 30th birthday and then spent some time in prayer. We were up before 3 am this morning and on the shuttle by 3:20am. As mentioned in an earlier post we sat on the plane at the gate for a little over an hour. Once we took off we were told that our scheduled arrival was 11am which was exactly when our connecting flight was supposed to leave. We were concerned because we weren't sure how many flights left out of Miami for Tegucigalpa each day. We got to Miami and realized that we were going to be on the same plane, so they couldn't leave without us! :) It was totally God because once we were on the flight they told us that flight was supposed to be on a different plane but it was out of service. Worked out well for us!
Our 2nd flight was a bit more adventurous than the first. There was one point that the plane dropped and I started looking around to see who else was in the back half of the plane with me to see who was going to be group if we ended up with a LOST situation. :) We survived the flight and survived the landing which was on the 2nd scariest runway in the world.
We arrived in Tegucigalpa with only lost bag....not too bad for the amount of luggage we had. Our guesthouse is only a few minutes from the airport. We got dropped off, had lunch, had a meeting and now we have some down time to rest.
We are all so excited for this trip!

Sorry my pictures are out of order. I have to figure this thing out. :)

What were they thinking when they put the three of us together on the plane?!

on our way- part 2

We made it to Miami and our connecting flight is on the same plane as our flight from Chicago- so it worked out perfectly. PTL!

on our way...maybe

We have been sitting on the plane at the gate in Chicago for over an hour. We are delayed because of weather. It's looking unlikely that we will make our connection in Miami, but we'll see.
Thank you for your prayers.

Prayer

The Hearts for Honduras team would very much appreciate your prayers as we are preparing to leave for Honduras.

Tomorrow night we will spend the night at an airport hotel and then leave for Tegucigalpa very early Saturday morning. We plan to arrive around noon and then will spend the afternoon visiting Casitas Kennedy orphanage and getting settled in our guest house. Sunday we will go to church and then spend the day touring Tegucigalpa. Monday through Friday will be spent at the orphanage. We will be doing a variety of activities: light construction/painting, Bible stories, singing, arts and crafts, sports/games and most importantly showing the precious children God's love. We will return home on Saturday, August 7th.

Some prayer requests that we have:
  • Health and Safety for our team members
  • Team unity
  • Safe and uneventful travels
  • Open and willing hearts to serve in any capacity
  • That God would use us to show the children we interact with how precious they are and how much they are loved
  • Ability to build relationships in a short amount of time with the children and workers
  • Transformed lives
Thank you so much for all your support! Make sure to check back for updates during the week. You can also check out another blog from two of our team members: Dollar- A - Day
